Healthy eating...

So I am moving to Korea in less than a week. I am so nervous and excited! I am going to have a crazy first week in Korea since I will be staying with another English teacher's home for a week. Moreover, I will probably have to wait a week to join a gym.

Some things I will try to do while in Korea to draw a line..

-No drinking alcohol. I don't even really like drinking, so this should be ok.
-Try to exercise every morning before work. I was thinking of walking a mile around the neighborhood each morning. I will have jet lag anyway, so that should work out well :)
-I bought protein powder for my breakfasts.
-No fast food, just Korean food. No liquid calories, either.

Kenkou in Kankoku? Yes.

Late May marks the one year anniversary of my losing 70 lbs over the course of nearly two years. According to some studies, most folks who lose weight gain it back. I am determined to not be this statistic. I am always trying too hard to be different than my peers, so perhaps this will be no different. This blog is part of my effort to stay at a healthy weight.

In about two weeks, I will be moving to Yongin, Gyeonggi, South Korea.

Fitness goals
-Run a 10k with ease, prepare for Chicago marathon in 2013.
-Deadlift, squat, and bench press half of my body weight.
-Do a pull up with ease.

Nutrition goals
-Eat five to seven vegetables a day
-Limit empty sweet intake to once a week
-Avoid alcohol (yes, I know, whatever)

My ultimate goal is to lose another 25 lbs when I finish my contract in Korea.

I think the biggest hindrance to achieving these goals is the social nature of Korea and a new job. Most people go out for high calorie food and like to drink. How can I not be an asshole while still being healthy? I don't really have an answer to that question, but I will work on it.

Obviously hearing about my health goals is painfully boring, so I will work on coming up with more interesting topics. However, the primary purpose of this blog is to keep me on track. I refuse to let my move get me into bad eating habits!
